Jan. 5
Eight calls were for medical reasons, with five requiring Advanced Life Support (ALS) response as well. Two responses were for Automatic Fire Alarms (AFAs). Engine 15 responded to the 4500 block of 179th St. SW for a report of smoke in the area. An investigation of the area found nothing.
Jan. 6
Fourteen calls were for medical reasons including three that were in respiratory distress and two for elderly people that had fallen and required assistance. Responded to three Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs) including one at 212th St. SW and 48th Ave. W. that had one patient transported to Stevens. Responded to three AFAs, including one at Stevens Hospital that turned out to be a small contents fire in one of the rooms in the Emergency Department. No one was hurt and the fire was extinguished prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Jan. 7
Fourteen calls were for medical reasons with eight requiring ALS and 10 of the 14 transported by fire department personnel to Stevens. Engine 14 responded to the 7600 block of 199th St. SW for a broken gas line. Responded to the 20400 block of 76th Ave. W. approximately a half-hour later for the smell of natural gas inside a structure. Determined to be transient gas from the break five blocks away. Edmonds fire department personnel later responded to numerous calls for the smell of natural gas in the area as far away as 212th St. SW and Hwy. 99.
Jan. 8
For the third day in a row there were 14 calls for medical reasons. Engine 15 responded on two calls for investigation of odors outside. Nothing unusual was found in either case. Engine 14 responded to a vehicle fire on the 19800 block of Hwy. 99 and had it extinguished within four minutes of their arrival.
Jan. 9
Fifteen calls were for medical reasons. Three MVAs were responded to including one where a vehicle struck a 10-year-old female who was riding a bicycle. The only injury found was an abrasion to the knee but she was transported to Stevens as a precaution.
Jan. 10
Of the 26 responses today, 10 of those were to assist neighboring jurisdictions. Ten calls were for medical reasons with six requiring ALS response. Three responses were for AFAs including another one to Stevens Hospital that was not a fire this time. Two responses were made for possible commercial structure fires and one for a possible house fire. All three turned out to be false alarms.
Jan. 11
The busiest day of the week with 41 responses. Six MVAs were responded to with only one patient transported by Lynnwood Fire personnel. Responded to a reported apartment fire on the 19600 block of 80th Ave. W. Fire was contained to the bathroom. Responded to a reported house fire on the 6100 block of 173rd Pl. SW. Upon arrival found a chimney fire that was quickly extinguished.
