Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 282 calls the week of June 19-25.
June 25
District 1 crews responded to 35 calls: 22 emergency medical aid calls, seven fires, two motor vehicle collisions and four fire alarms.
At 5:53 a.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at 164th St. SE and Meridian Ave. and took one patient to Stevens Hospital.
At 7:07 a.m., firefighters responded to a service station at 220th St. SW and 66th Ave. W in Mountlake Terrace to investigate a report of an explosion. Witnesses said an explosion blew a manhole cover off a pit that houses a fuel pumping mechanism, sending the 3-foot diameter cover flying about 10 feet in the air. No flames or smoke were seen. No one was injured. A fire investigator determined an electrical spark ignited fuel vapors in the confined space and caused the explosion. The service station immediately shut down its fuel pumps, which remained closed until all pumping mechanisms could be inspected and repaired by a technician. The service station reopened the next afternoon.
June 24
District 1 crews responded to 44 calls: 34 emergency medical aid calls, four fires, two motor vehicle collisions, one service call, one natural gas leak and two fire alarms.
At 5:21 p.m., firefighters took one patient to Stevens Hospital after responding to a two-car collision in the 16500 block of 28th Ave. W.
At 5:55 p.m., firefighters responded to a bush on fire at a home in the 3600 block of 109th Pl. S.E.
At 6:10 p.m., firefighters responded to a three-car collision at 170th St. SW and Alderwood Mall Blvd., and evaluated one patient at the scene
June 23
38 calls – 29 emergency medical aid calls, two motor vehicle collisions, three fires, three fire alarms and one service call.
At 7:44 a.m., firefighters responded to a car that flipped over on southbound I-5 south of 164th St. SW. They transported one patient to Stevens Hospital.
June 22
44 calls – 31 emergency medical aid calls, six fires, two motor vehicle collisions, two service calls and three fire alarms.
At 1:18 a.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision in the 15300 block of Meadow Road and took one patient to Stevens Hospital.
At 2:51 p.m., firefighters responded to a van fire in the 22800 block of Lakeview Road in Mountlake Terrace.
At 5:52 p.m., firefighters responded to a Dumpster fire at Jefferson Elementary School in the 2500 block of Cadet Way. The fire extended to a shed attached to the school building. The fire damaged the siding and some roofing material of the shed, but did not extend into the school building. The property loss is estimated at $5,000. The fire is being investigated by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office as arson.
At 7:18 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision on southbound I-5 south of 220th St. SW. No one was injured
June 19
District 1 crews responded to 35 calls: 30 emergency medical aid calls, one fire, two motor vehicle collisions, one service call and one fire alarm.
At 10:11 p.m., firefighters helped residents in the 3400 block of 151st Pl. SW clear smoke from their home after they burned food on their stove.
