Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 238 calls the week of Jan. 17-23.
Jan. 23
District 1 firefighters responded to 31 calls: 25 emergency medical aid calls, two fires, two motor vehicle collisions and two fire alarms.
At 6:12 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision in the 15300 block of 35th Ave. W. and took one patient to Stevens Hospital.
Jan. 22
District 1 crews responded to 39 calls: 35 emergency medical aid calls, three motor vehicle collisions and one service call.
At 6:54 a.m., firefighters responded to a collision involving a small car and a pickup truck at 220th St. SW and 44th Ave. W in Mountlake Terrace. A teenage girl was trapped inside the pickup truck which came to rest on its side on 220th St. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to cut off the roof of the truck to free the girl. She was transported to Stevens Hospital with minor injuries. Two people in the other car were uninjured.
Jan. 18
District 1 crews responded to 35 calls: 26 emergency medical aid calls, two fires, one motor vehicle collision, one carbon monoxide alarm, two natural gas leaks, one service call and two fire alarms.
At 3:38 p.m., firefighters responded to a collision in the 3300 block of 204th St. SW and took one patient to Stevens.
At 5:32 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire at a paper-recycling warehouse in the 2600 block of 94th St. SW. Investigators believe a steel bucket on a front-end loader generated sparks that started the small fire, which crews quickly brought under control.
Firefighters treated one employee at the scene for exposure to smoke. The structure was not damaged, but the piles of paper continued to smolder for hours and filled the large warehouse with smoke. Firefighters were on the scene until around 11 p.m.
Jan. 17
District 1 crews responded to 36 calls: 29 emergency medical aid calls, four fires, two motor vehicle collisions and one service call.
At 10:32 a.m., firefighters extinguished a car fire in the 6700 block of 220th St. SW in Mountlake Terrace.
At 4:42 p.m., firefighters responded to a collision on northbound Interstate 5 north of the 236th St. SW on-ramp and took one patient to Stevens Hospital.
At 6:14 p.m., firefighters responded to a cooking fire at a home in the 21200 block of 48th Ave. W. The fire was contained to the stove top, but filled the home with smoke.
At 7:16 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at 164th St. SW and 36th Ave. W. No one was injured.
