Firefighters from all over the Puget Sound area will compete to grace the pages of the Washington State Council of Firefighters Burn Foundation calendar for a good cause.

In an effort to celebrate 10 years of the calendar, the WSCFBF is having those top firefighters from the past 10 calendars compete for the best of the best All Star 10 year anniversary calendar for 2005.

Included in those top firefighters from the state are two from Shoreline, David Engler and Craig Overfield and six from the following Snohomish County city fire departments: Kevin Miller and Bryan Youngman from Lynnwood, Rich “Hawkeye” Couden from Bothell, Larry Longley from Everett, Brandon Asher from Arlington and Keoni Brown from Marysville.

The judging event, which is open to the public, starts at 7:30 p.m. May 27 at the new Premier Club in Seattle. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets are now for sale through TicketsWest or through www.firefightercalendar.org.

The WSCFBF was founded in 1987 and is a 501(c)(3) charity. The foundation raises money to fund burn research and educate about burn safety, with the hope of preventing those in the community from suffering debilitating pain and losses due to burns.

The foundation is operated solely by Washington State professional firefighters and have only one paid staff person, which keeps overhead expenses extremely low, said Rod Heivilin, director for WSCFBF.
