Forest View installs start of playground
On Saturday, May 17, volunteers from Forest View Elementary installed Phase One of their playground climbing structure. Parent volunteers installed everything but the major posts.
The PTA has raised more than $40,000 since school started in September.
However, the PTA must still raise money for phase two.

Forest View Elementary is the newest elementary school in the Everett School District. It opened in fall 2007.
Jackson wins council award
Jackson High School has won a 2008 National Gold Council of Excellence Award by the National Association of Student Councils for leadership.
Almost 120 high schools were named national Councils of Excellence, but Jackson is one of only 98 high schools nationwide to be named a National Gold Council of Excellence.
To meet the requirements for the award, a student council must demonstrate such things as leadership training for council members, teacher/staff appreciation activities, student recognition programs, school and community service projects, spirit activities, goal setting, financial planning, and active participation in their state and national student council associations.
“The great work our Jackson students accomplish in student government as well as in clubs, performing arts, activities, leadership classes, and in the athletic arena to serve others and improve our school and community, truly humbles me,” Judi Montgomery, activities director at Jackson, said in a press release. “This award is a tremendous accomplishment and an honor for the Jackson High School associated student body.”
