Fred Meyer stores donated $5,000 recently to support the Everett Community College Hi-Q academic competition, now in its 33rd year. The annual series for high school students in Snohomish and Island counties is the oldest continuous academic quiz competition of its kind in the nation. This year’s event features 22 area high school teams who will participate in weekly competitions in the hope of securing a spot in the Hi-Q playoffs.
