To educate the public on the concerns and dangers of stalking, the South Snohomish County Domestic Violence Task Force will conduct a free training class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Mountlake Terrace Library community room, 23300 58th Ave. W.

The event is being held in part to coincide with January’s designation as National Stalking Awareness Month.

Approximately 1.5 million people are stalked every year in the United States. Of those incidents, 25 to 35 percent of them involve violence. One in 12 women and one in 45 men will be stalked at least once during their lifetime.

Stalking can include repeated phone calls, following, damage to property or homes and any other action that controls, tracks or frightens someone.

For help, call the Center for Battered Women’s 24-hour help line at 425-25-ABUSE (425-252-2873).

For more information about the training, call Mountlake Terrace Domestic Violence Coordinator Danielle Singson at 425-670-8260 ext 417.
