Award-winning artist Keith Artz has brought a colorful collection of original paintings titled “Kiss My Glass” to Edmonds’ Gallery North this month. Each watercolor painting in the show reveals the exquisite beauty of glass and how it captures light and color.

A reception will be held for Keith Artz on Sunday, Nov. 9. The public is invited to come to the gallery and meet this artist. Light refreshments will be served.

Artz, born in Tecumseh, Neb., credits his parents for encouraging his creative abilities. He learned the art of fine woodworking and furniture making from his father, and developed a love for needlework from his mother.

“I work in a representational or realistic style of painting, Artz said of his work. “My subjects tend to be everyday objects that have their own stories to tell. I like to paint the details of my subjects that most casual observers don’t notice at first glance.

“If I can help viewers of my paintings to better see the often hidden or obscure optical treasures in ordinary things, then I feel I have succeeded. That is why being an artist is such an adventure for me.”

Artz has won awards for his work in annual juried shows sponsored by Seattle Co-Arts and has recently won a “Finalist” award in an international competition sponsored by International Artist Magazine. His work is published in the current October/November issue of that magazine.
