Brides are always looking for ways to make their wedding day extra special and create a memory of a lifetime.

One new idea has arrived via a game called Wedding Gamesake. Its the brainchild of Callie Weiant and her family.

I grew up with a game like this, Weiant said. My mom originally created this as a Christmas game and we played it every year. For years we talked about marketing it.

Produced by Jocapa Products in Boulder, Colo., Wedding Gamesake can be used as an alternative to a guest book. The game can be taken to the bridal shower, rehearsal dinner and the wedding reception. Just set out the cards that come with the game and let guests fill out as many as they like the more memories, the better.

Its those memories that family and friends write down that creates the game. These become the playing cards, the most important part of the game. In addition to 300 gift cards for writing memories, Wedding Gamesake also comes with a game board, four pens, a die and six pawns.

This is sort of getting their whole life in one game, Weiant said. The nice thing is it can run the gamut from silly things to milestone achievements. Guests really get into it.

The board can be personalized with some of the couples favorite locations. The path represents the brides and grooms life journeys from birth to marriage. They follow the path with their pawns using the cards to make their moves.

A guest might write something like Remember the time you lost your wallet, Weiant said. Now go back 3 spaces. Or I guess the goofy guy who dropped a bowling ball on your toe wasnt so bad after all. Go ahead 5 for good luck.

The first player to reach the I do square wins, reliving special memories along the way.

We set out the cards at my sisters wedding, Weiant said. It is really fun to do. Its creating a keepsake at a really happy occasion and people really get creative.

Once all the memories have been placed on the cards, the bride and groom can play the game by themselves or with others.

Its more fun than a guest book and lasts longer than a toast, Weiant said.

Wedding Gamesake is designed to be created during the wedding planning stage. A wedding planner, family member or a friend should see to it that guests fill out the cards.

The game was released on the market in February 2004 and was nominated for best new product in the Nationwide Stationery Show in New York.

Weve had a fabulous response from brides and their mothers, Weiant said. We are such a little company and we had no idea what to expect. It really made our wedding.

Jocapa Products, which commits 5 percent of its profits to selected charities, also has Christmas Gamesake and Birthday Gamesake on the market.

All of these are perfect for scrapbook lovers, Weiant said. Just think of the fabulous record you can keep of ones life.
