The Aug. 26 letter to the editor suggested it’s inappropriate for a substitute teacher to “recruit” students to be a part of her campaign process while running for Shoreline City Council.
I, for one, applaud the substitute teacher, Patty Hale, whom obviously inspires and motivates her students. They willingly volunteered their free time to experience the election process.
It’s not surprising that Patty inspires her students. For over a decade she’s lea by example. She’s a founding member of Shoreline Council of Neighborhoods; a PTA mom; a volunteer for Shoreline Police; a Parks &Recreation member; a volunteer painting local murals; a sports mom and volunteer for other kids, etc.
I salute the students who chose to campaign on behalf of their Shorecrest High School substitute teacher. They are experiencing our American campaign and election process. They gave of themselves, their time and contributed to our community. Bravo.
