This month, the Mountlake Terrace Art Commission presents an exhibit of work by students of the Alderwood-Terrace Rotary Hispanic Center. The show can be viewed in the gallery at the Mountlake Terrace Library.
The Rotary Hispanic Center Student Show celebrates “Arts Education Month” in May to raise awareness about the essential value of arts education in schools.
“I’d like to thank the Mountlake Terrace Art Commission for a chance to show the student work for the month of May,” said Pat Cordova, center director. “The students have been inspired with this opportunity to share their work.”
The Rotary Hispanic Center offers tutoring and English language skills services to people of all ages in the local community. The center, located in Mountlake Terrace, opened in October 2005. The goal of the Rotary Hispanic Center is to help students excel in their homework and provide a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for the entire family to work toward their educational goals.
All ages of learners are welcome. The younger children enjoy having a story read to them, and interacting with educational games and puzzles. Adults practice their English language skills using the Rosetta Stone computer software available at three different language levels. Most students and families come from the Edmonds school district area.
The Hispanic Center is located at Terrace Park School in Mountlake Terrace, and is open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information or to volunteer, call Pat Cordova at 425-775-6362.
