Teacher honored
The Alderwood-Terrace Rotary recognized as January Educator of the Month, Betsy Zeifman of Mountlake Terrace High School. Zeifman, an English Language Learner instructor, was instrumental this year in creating a night school program for parents of ELL students. She has worked hard to help students and parents be more successful, the group said.
Local students make the grade
The following Washington State University students from Western Washington have earned recognition on the President’s Honor Roll for the fall 2005 semester, according to the school’s registrar’s office.
To be eligible for the WSU honor roll, a full-time student must earn a 3.75 grade point average for the semester or have maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Lantow joins National Dean’s list
Zach Lantow, a 2005 graduate of Meadowdale High School, has qualified for the National Dean’s list with a 4.0 GPA. He is attending the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Ariz. and is majoring in computer animation.
YMCA offers scholarships
The YMCA of Greater Seattle is currently accepting applications for college scholarships in the amount of $1,000-$2,500 per school year. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of leadership, participation in school, YMCA involvement, community activities, academic achievement, honors, financial need, work experience, statement of career and educational goals and recommendations. Applications are due April 1.
