Shoreline

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. John D. McBride, II, son of Dottie McBride of Shoreline, recently returned from a routine, scheduled deployment on board the USS Peleliu, homeported in San Diego, while assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif. McBride, a 2000 graduate of Shorewood High School, joined the Marine Corps in July 2000.

Army Capt. John P. McDougall, son of Martin and Ruth McDougall of Shoreline, has returned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy, after completing a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with additional participation in Operation Northern Delay. McDougall is an infantry officer with three years of military service. The captain graduated in 1996 from Shorewood High School, Shoreline, and received a bachelor’s degree in the year 2000 from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

Army National Guard Spec. Rodney W. Wilson, son of Jessee Wilson of Shoreline, is currently deployed as a light-wheeled vehicle mechanic at Kandahar Air Field as part of Coalition Joint Task Force 180, the lead military agency for operations in Afghanistan.

Lynnwood

Army Reserve Pvt. Thomas M. Bahta has graduated from the automated logistical specialist advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va. Bahta, son of Mesghina Bahta and Aster Woldemichael of Lynnwood, is a 2003 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Nanthaniel M. Herbert, son of Gena Herbert of Lynnwood, recently graduated from the Basic Enlisted Submarine Course at Naval Submarine School in Groton, Conn. Herbert is a 2003 graduate of Lynnwood High School and joined the Navy in September 2003.

Mill Creek

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Bryan J. Calderon, a 2002 graduate of Jackson High School in Mill Creek, recently returned from a routine, scheduled deployment on board the USS Peleliu, homeported in San Diego, while assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif. During the deployment, Calderon’s unit conducted humanitarian assistance, security and stabilization missions in Iraq.
