U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Bainbridge Island, announced April 21 that Snohomish County will receive a Federal Transit Administration grant of $990,315 for 50 replacement rideshare vans for Snohomish Community Transit’s vanpool program.
“Snohomish County is growing and our citizens need viable transportation options,” Inslee said. “Rideshare vans are a great way to ease traffic congestion, save money, and reduce pollution.”
The Snohomish Vanpool Program is the third largest of its kind in the country, transporting an impressive 1,850 riders on 652,000 passenger trips, covering 17.2 million passenger miles, according to Inslee’s office.
“The federal funds will help Community Transit continue to meet our transportation needs, and continue providing this valuable rideshare program,” Inslee said.
