U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Bainbridge Island, wants to know what you think about the war in Iraq.
To that end, he has put a survey online for his constituents to provide input on several questions regarding the overseas conflict.
The survey was put out Monday, Oct. 13, in anticipation of an upcoming vote in Congress on President Bush’s request for another $87 billion for security and rebuilding in Iraq.
“I know there’s a lot of concern about our Iraq policy and I just wanted to give people the chance to share their views,” he said.
The survey consists of five questions, each with several multiple choice options.
“It’s not a simple yes or no,” Inslee said.
The questions include, “How much of the President’s request should Congress authorize?” Others pertain to what conditions, if any, should be placed on authorization of the funds, should more American troops be sent, and how Congressional representatives should vote if they’re given only a yes-or-no option.
“I wanted to give people food for thought,” Inslee said.
Inslee said Oct. 14 the vote was tentatively slated to take place Thursday or Friday, Oct. 16 or 17, after deadline for this edition of The Enterprise.
Inslee said the survey was sent to “pretty much anybody whose e-mail address we had.”
