With results in the Feb. 7 Edmonds School District levy and bond election certified on Feb. 16, district officials are now working on the projects funded by the money.
The levy received 64.67 percent yes votes, while the bond saw 61.88 percent of voters check yes. Both measures required a 60 percent supermajority to pass.
Now, the district has turned its attention to making the projects the $140 million bond will pay for happen. This includes building a new Lynnwood High School on a property the district owns on North Road, east of Interstate 5.
At a school board work session Feb. 21, the district unveiled a more detailed time line of future projects.
Some, such as earthquake safety upgrades, will begin construction within the next couple of months. While larger projects, such as the new high school, are still in the design phases.
Almost every precinct in the Edmonds School District approved the bond package.
Only two – The Maple precinct and Edmonds 41 – had cumulative votes against the package. Neither precinct had a significant impact on the outcome.
