Jackson boys capture 4A district golf meet

EVERETT — Kyle Cornett shot a 1-under-71 and Trent Livingstone earned an even-par 72 to help lead the Jackson boys golf team to the team championship in the 4A District 1 boys golf championship at Everett Golf and Country Club.

Along with Cornett and Livingstone, Barrett McGinnis shot a 3-over-75 as the Timberwolves edged Kamiak 375-379 for a four-shot win. The team title was decided in the first round, with the top individuals finishing the second round to determine who advances to the state tournament. The top 15 golfers qualify for state.

Kamiak’s Mark Strickland shot a 39 on the back nine to finish with a first-round 74. Eric McCabe shot an even-par 72 to lead the Knights.

Cascade’s Anthony Chiarelli shared the lead with Cornett and Shorewood’s Max McKinley.
