The Jackson High School dance team is headed to the state dance team competition in Yakima this weekend after a winning streak that’s included first place in hip hop category at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, second place in the hip hop category at Edmonds-Woodway High School in Edmonds and second place in the hip hop category at the WIAA Salute to Spirit event at Everett Event Center in January.
This month, it won the Northwest District 1 Competition at Kamiak High School, first place in dance and second place in hip hop.
The team’s coach is Nikki Coryer, the team captain is Danielle Peterson and co-captains are Laura Kirk and Germaine Salmine. Other team members are Cassie Bittinger, Cara French, Ariel Hart, Brianna Knuckles, Emily Laughlin, Janel Navran, Tara Neal, Becky Schuermeyer, Hillary Theriault and Cady Wahlbrink.
