Jackson and Mountlake Terrace both scored 50 points but the Timberwolves won the Western Conference South Division boys team championship because their No. 6 runner finished higher than the Hawks.
Jackson’s top runner was Michael Manning, who took sixth in 16:55. Tyler Hill (third, 16:43) and Michael Tran (fifth, 16:53) led Mountlake Terrace.
Jackson’s Manning said the team victory felt good, “but I still didn’t think anyone raced perfectly. … I feel like next week we’ll be even better than this week.”
Jackson’s Mitchell Briggs finished eighth (17:05) and teammate Jordan Lance was ninth (17:06).
In the girls race, Jackson’s Allison Ponce took eighth (20:54) and teammate Laice Valera was 10th (21:03).
