Mavericks, Royal advance at districts

Lynnwood and Meadowdale advanced to the second day of the Class 3A District 1 volleyball tournament.

Meadowdale opened with a 3-0 victory over Squalicum and before suffering a 3-1 loss to Mount Vernon in the semifinals on Oct. 27 at Jackson High School. The loss sent the Mavericks into a loser-out game against district rival Lynnwood. The Royals opened with a 3-1 loss to Wesco South Division rival Shorecrest but then rebounded to defeat Everett 3-1 to avoid elimination.

Lynnwood and Meadowdale were scheduled to play on Wednesday night, after The Enterprise’s deadline. The winner still would have to win two more matches in order to advance to the state tournament.
