Just a Thought

It’s only been about a month now that I could actually keep food down or at least feel good about it.

For the first six months of my third pregnancy I have been overwhelmingly unwell. But you get used to it and life goes on.

I had “morning sickness” — or 24-hour sickness — for so long I just thought that was the way it was going to be ‘til the end.

Why do they call it morning sickness, anyway? It certainly doesn’t stick to the morning.

My poor family has been deprived because my usual elaborate meals were out of the question — any cooking, actually, was out of the question.

People would ask me, nodding their heads expecting my answer would be yes: “you feeling better yet?”

I would just say “uh — no — and it’s a real boring subject so let’s talk about something else” and I’d smile.

I feel so much better now. I just sit and cherish each and every feel-good moment.

You see, it wasn’t like this with my last two pregnancies with McKenna (almost 5) and Isabella (almost 2).

I did have a little”morning” (24-hour) sickness in the first trimester, just like the books say is very typical and it went away the first day of my second trimester.

I felt wonderful, no complications throughout both of those pregnancies.

Not this one.

Along with the sickness I’ve had complications and issues throughout — I was sure this one must be a boy.

But no — It’s another “girly-wirly,” as my Dad calls them.

We thought a boy would have been nice and my stepson Koltin, who also has another sister with his Mom and stepdad, would’ve really appreciated a boy — but no, it looks guaranteed he’ll be the big brother to a total of four sisters.

“But a boy wouldn’t get into my stuff,” he says. Yeah, right.

He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s already those girls’ hero, he’s the best big brother in the world.

After thinking about it, my husband Keith and I are more than thrilled to have another girl. We have great girls and to have three of them, well, is even more special.

And we know what to do with girls and we already have everything for her, including her name: “Mia Sara Sessions.”

Her expected arrival date is Oct. 24.

I just hope Mia gives me a break in the delivery room, I sure deserve it — ‘cause I know the first two didn’t.

Before this tough pregnancy we were sure this would be the last one and we’ll take the steps to be sure of that.

Well, I believe that the tough pregnancy was just a reminder from God to be sure I had no doubt, that yes — this will be the last one.
