Keep Edmonds happy and safe with levy

My husband and I were drawn to Edmonds by the combination of its small town charm and big town amenities. We love the community festivals, the Saturday Farmers’ Market, shopping downtown, having a great community hospital like Stevens and the promise of great schools for our current and future children. In addition, we are delighted to have a wonderful local Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, three pillars of safety that can often end up underfunded and lacking in other small communities.

On May 20, I am happy to have the opportunity to show my love and support for my town in a new way. Our paramedics and EMTs especially need our support to continue providing their vital services to our community. Voting in favor of the EMS levy will return funding to the original voter-approved 50 cent level. The levy will fund 75 percent of the Fire Department’s EMS budget, but will amount to only an 18 cent per household increase from current funding. That’s only $6.92 per month on a $500,000 home.

As a new parent, I want to do all I can to ensure the health and safety of my son. By voting to pass the EMS levy on May 20 we can all make sure that emergency services are there if and when we need them. Please vote in favor of the EMS levy and join me in keeping Edmonds the happy, safe city that I love!
