SHORELINE — The King’s boys basketball team held on to beat Auburn Adventist 58-42 Tuesday night but the Knights lost one of their key players for the rest of the season.

Senior Ben Pawlak suffered a broken left arm when he slid into the cement wall behind the King’s basket midway through the fourth quarter.

The 6-foot shooting guard is the Knights’ second-leading scorer, averaging 14.2 points per game.

Auburn Adventist shrunk its 26-20 halftime deficit to two points early in the third period, but King’s closed the quarter with a 13-1 run to take charge of the Chinook League clash.

King’s (7-3 league, 11-7 overall) owns a half-game lead over Life Christian and Bellevue Christian for second place in the league standings.

The top two finishers receive automatic berths to the Class A Tri-district tournament, which begins Feb. 18.
