Krahn’s generosity has made its mark

You could re-name the city “Mountlake Krahn-us” and not go wrong or be inaccurate. Mountlake Terrace without Stan Krahn would be like “It’s A Wonderful Life” without Jimmy Stewart, i.e. almost completely unfathomable. Stan’s and Jeanne’s gift of hospitality and friendliness towards many different kinds of people (including many from far-off lands) without any expectation of getting anything back made an indelible impression in my mind in high school in terms of being a model example of selfless giving. As to who would win a round of “History Jeopardy” between Stan, Jeanne or retired Terrace High history teaching icon Reed Skibeness as the three contestants — I’m not really sure; that’s a tough one. They’re all basically walking history encyclopedias. As to Stan being gifted at diffusing tension and being able to “charm Godzilla,” that’s Stan Krahn EXACTLY!
