Level III sex offender moves to 36th Avenue in Mountlake Terrace

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE —The Mountlake Terrace Police Department has released information concerning a registered Level III Sex Offender who resides in the 22400 block of 36th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace.

According to Mountlake Terrace police officials, Brett Evans Stevenson pled guilty in Clark County Superior court in 1983 to one count Indecent Liberties and was sentenced to 30 days in the Clark County Jail.

This case involved a 10-year -old unknown female victim. She was riding her bicycle on a sidewalk when Stevenson rode past her on a Moped. He passed her and then returned to her on foot and asked her questions. He then grabbed her buttocks. She ran to a neighbors and he fled the area on the Moped.

There were also four counts of Public Indecency where Stevenson exposed his genitals to young unknown women between February and March of 1983.

All of these charges were dropped due to his plea to the Indecent Liberties charge. Stevenson has a history of indecent exposure incidents dating back to 1982 in the states of Oregon and Washington.

In November 2000 Stevenson pled guilty in Washington County Oregon Circuit Court to one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, according to police officials.

Then on June 28, 2004 Stevenson pled guilty in Seattle Municipal Court to one count of Criminal Trespass and one count of Indecent Exposure. In this case Stevenson was seen sitting in his vehicle near a college sorority house looking into the windows. He had parked there several times during the day. When contacted by police, Stevenson attempted to drive away, when ordered to stop Stevenson was found to have his penis exposed. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail. A similar incident also occurred on April 30, 2004. Stevenson is on probation with Seattle Municipal Court Probation Services, according to police officials.

Stevenson is described as a 40-year-old white male, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde hair.

The Mountlake Terrace Police Department has conducted a community meeting which discussed sex offender issues applicable to the local neighborhood Sept. 22.

Mountlake Terrace Police officials said it is their goal to keep the community informed of these issues and to answer any questions that may be raised. Parents and all interested citizens who are concerned about this matter and desire additional information are encouraged to call the police department at 425-670-8260.

This public notification is intended to increase public safety and awareness. police officials said. It is not intended to created fear or promote adverse public reaction, which could violate the individual right s of any citizen.
