A public hearing for the Grace Cole Nature Park Master Plan is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, to enable citizens to share their comments regarding the development of the property.
The current park, located at the intersection of 30th Street NE and 166th Street NE, is being expanded.
A draft plan has been designed by landscape architects at Worthy and Associates and includes trails, educational signage and resting areas.
An open house was previously held Dec. 10 at city hall and the new master plan will reflect comments received by the city during that time.
The property for the expanded park was purchased in 2002 with conservation grants from the State and County. The park is intended by city officials to protect the headwaters and wetlands of Brookside Creek, which is the tributary of McAleer Creek.
The park is named after State Rep. Grace Cole, who was a member of the Shoreline School Board and represented the 32nd District in the state House of Representatives for 16 years.
The park is expected to be open to the public by fall 2004.
For more information, call Tema Nesoff at City Hall, 206-368-5440. The plan is also available for residents to view at City Hall or on the website.
