Locals should take pride in Storm stars

Kristen O’Neill and Karen Bryant’s luminous career path to success in basketball is remarkably similar: Help lead your Edmonds School District team to a memorable state title, play collegiately in The Emerald City, end up with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm. (“O’Neill takes her shot at the WNBA,” Enterprise, May 2) To sum up Kristen’s blessings of having Karen Blair as her high school coach and Karen Bryant as her professional general manager, as a coach of mine used to say, “That’s a good run right there!” Puget Sound-area followers of the fan-friendly Storm will marvel at the galaxy of stars currently assembled on the Storm roster, such as Bird/Jackson/Cash/Swoopes/Griffith, but the denizens of Meadowdale and Woodway have their own unique angle and source of pride in the form of their beloved alums, Kristen and Karen.
