MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A longtime Mountlake Terrace Crime Watch volunteer died recently.

Roy Wettland, 83, suffered from a stroke early September and never recovered, according to Mountlake Terrace police officials.

Officers, staff and citizens from all over the city had fond memories of Wettland, who had just recently married his wife Marvel a few days before his stroke.

Wettland is remembered at the police department as an outspoken, full-of-energy guy.

At events such as the city’s annual National Night Out he was one of the first ones there and last to leave.

Wettland was also active in the Lions Club, the American Legion, V.F.W., the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Mountlake Terrace Senior Group.
