Lynn Sordel, who left Washington to spend 10 years directing parks and recreation efforts in Orange County. Fla., is the city of Lynnwood’s new Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Director.
Sordel began his career at the city of Bellingham’s parks and recreation department.
According to a news release, he’s developed a 15-year master plan and a dedicated funding source that resulted in a 52 percent increase in facilities and park development and completion of a 23-mile recreational trail.
He also has experience developing partnerships, gaining community support for critical projects and establishing not-for-profit organizations to help enhance parks, recreation and cultural arts programs.
