The Lynnwood Arts Commission presents a new exhibit of artwork by Dorothy Mayhew and Jane Wittenberg at the Lynnwood Library Gallery, opening April 24.
Collage artist Dorothy Mayhew has exhibited throughout Puget Sound, as a member of the Northwest Collage Society and as a solo artist. Her current work explores the color black with elements of the artwork floating and interacting with the black or “silent” background.
Jane Wittenberg uses charcoal and colored pencil to create beautiful and detailed portraits. Her work captures the emotion of each subject, often expressing the feeling and atmosphere of a certain moment or memory.
The exhibit runs through May 28. The Lynnwood Library Gallery is free to the public, and showcases local and regional artists, both amateurs and professionals.
The Lynnwood Arts Commission currently has exhibition opportunities for local and regional visual artists.
The theme of the LAC’s 2009 Annual Juried Themed Exhibit is “Celebrate 50.” Artists are sought to contribute their artistic interpretation for this 6th annual event as part of planned celebrations of Lynnwood’s 50th birthday. The main theme is “celebrate”; artists are invited to think of “50” as an extra challenge. Open to all ages and abilities, the deadline is July 31.
The Lynnwood Arts Commission is also accepting applications for monthly exhibits in 2010 at the Lynnwood Library Gallery. The gallery space features 35 linear feet wall space, a display case and 3 pedestals.
No commission is charged for any sales made. The gallery is visited by an estimate of 1,500 people monthly. Submission deadline is Sept. 25.
