LAKE STEVENS

A Lynnwood man was arrested after he nearly ran down a Lake Stevens police officer early Wednesday morning, Oct. 14.

The incident took place around 1 a.m. near Frontier Village, Lake Stevens police spokeswoman Julie Ubert said.

An officer was investigating an alarm when a vehicle nearly smashed into him. The officer then tried to stop the vehicle, but instead of pulling over, the driver hit the gas and led the officer on a short pursuit, she said.

The vehicle crashed at the intersection of 20th Street Northeast and North Machias Road. The driver ran off. A man, 24, was arrested after a foot chase, Ubert said.

The vehicle had been reported stolen, she said.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of attempting to elude police and possession of a stolen vehicle.
