TULALIP — The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce will televise a candidate forum on Aug. 23 with an in-depth look at the race for Snohomish County Council District 1.

The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce’s candidate and initiative breakfast forums have won statewide respect over the years for their caliber, quality and focus on issues that will affect area businesses and residents for years to come.

“Our goal is to present the candidates and the issues in a fair and impartial format that will aid citizens in their decision making process when casting their ballots,” said chamber president and CEO Caldie Rogers.

With Snohomish County expected to continue to grow, the decisions made now are critical in defining the shape of the future, such as how to accommodate 200,000 to 300,000 new residents, fixing roads and transportation issues, balancing development against environmental protection, and creating fiscal sustainability.

Sponsored by Walmart, the forum will feature Al Aldrich of Strategies 360 as moderator. He will guide the candidates through a series of eight questions. The program will include candidate rebuttals and conclude with each candidate posing a question to their opponent.

The forum is scheduled for Aug. 23 in the Tulalip Casino Resorts’ Canoes Cabaret Nightclub, at 10200 Quil Ceda Blvd. Doors open at 7 a.m. with the candidate forum set to run from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

RSVP with The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce at 360-659-7700 or admin@MarysvilleTulalipChamber.com. Cost is $23 for pre-registered guests and $28 at the door.
