Meadowdale High School recently named Tim Rettmann as the new girls tennis coach after longtime boys and girls tennis coach Mark Schneider resigned after moving of the area.

Rettmann previously coached at Pasco and North Central high schools on the eastern side of the state and played tennis for Eastern Washington University from 1986-91.

“We will miss Mark; he has done a remarkable job with the girls program and has left a solid foundation for Tim,” said Meadowdale athletic director Chris Murphy in a press release. “That said, I believe Tim has the tools to continue on a great tradition here at Meadowdale, and I look forward to working with him.”

The spring season started Feb. 27.

Davenport signs with SFU

Meadowdale’s Tanner Davenport is taking his game to the next level.

The Mavericks offensive lineman recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia.

“(I’m) relieved that this whole process is over,” Davenport wrote in a Twitter message to The Daily Herald. “And I’m excited for this opportunity to play at the next level at a great school. Now it’s time to get back in the weight room and put in some hard work.”

Davenport was an All-Wesco, first-team selection on the 3A offensive team.

SFU plays in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, which includes teams like Central Washington and Western Oregon.
