Meadowdale advances to 3A baseball title game

Chase Anselment hit a solo home run in the first inning and Meadowdale defeated Mount Vernon 3-0 in a 3A District 1 semifinal baseball playoff game May 6 at Sherman Anderson Field in Mount Vernon. The Mavericks advanced to the winner-to-state championship game at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10.

In earlier action, Meadowdale sophomore Jeff Askew had his first career home run and finished with two RBI to lead the Mavericks to a 9-0 victory over Arlington in a 3A District 1 playoff win on May 5.

District rival Lynwnood stayed alive in the playoffs with a 5-1 victory over Arlington on May 6. Tanner Detschman was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead Royals, who lost 3-0 to Mount Vernon on May 5.
