The ninth annual Meadowdale High School dance team competition will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 14 in the gym. This year’s event features 22 dance and drill teams from across the state.

Tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for students and include a full afternoon of performances.

The competition culminates in a drill down and an awards ceremony. Meadowdale will be performing several exhibition routines and the Seattle Sonics dance team also will be performing an exhibition routine.

The competition is the dance team’s major annual event. In November, Meadowdale performed during halftime of a UW men’s basketball game.

Last year, the Mavericks successfully defended their state title in Yakima by placing first against all other dance teams in the 3A division, marking the team’s fourth straight state championship.

Dance team members include: (back row, left to right) Alise Yeadon, Megan Bosaw, Alaina Githens, Andrea Holcomb, Nicole Wilson, Emily Knopp, Jasmine Craig, Kaarin Olson; (middle row) Caitlin Donnelly, Jill Rotset, Kari Larson, Erica Mawbey-Lance, Maret Falk, Melia Lucero, Allison Iguchi; (front row) co-captain Brandi Templin, captain Natalie Johnson, captain Kelsey Strand, co-captain Laurinda Rutherford. Coach Julie McClendon is not pictured.
