Meadowdale wins Lynnwood Classic

LYNNWOOD — The Meadowdale wrestling team feasted on the competition at last weekend’s Lynnwood Classic.

Six Mavericks won individual titles to help Meadowdale to the team championship Dec. 18 at Lynnwood High School.

Meadowdale finished with 278.5 points, well ahead of second-place Mercer Island, which had 192.5. Blanchet was third with 142.5 and host Lynnwood took fourth with 100.5.

Recording championship pins for the Mavericks were Nate Perrin (112 pounds), Kai Bruno (125), Lane Jennings (152) and Danny McKinney (189). Other Meadowdale first-place finishers were Aaron Reeder (135) and Jeremy Harbison (275).

Lynnwood produced two champions — Justin Sumner (103) and Jordan Williams (119).

Meadowdale’s Matt Forrester (140), Tony Yen (145), Mike Baginski (160), Travis Cramer (171), Alex Lord (189) and Joe Mustard (215) all took second place in their respective divisions.

Eastside Catholic’s Nick Carrado (130) and Bishop Blanchet’s Sam McNaghten (171) were named outstanding wrestlers of the tournament.
