Mill Creek all-stars win state title

Mill Creek Little League’s 9- and 10-year-old all-stars defeated Richland 5-1 to win the state championship last weekend in Port Orchard.

Mill Creek opened the tournament with a 12-0 rout over Highlands. Andrew Dodd hit a home run. Mill Creek then defeated Kent 14-6 and followed up with a 6-4 win over Richland before losing to Richland 4-1 to set up the final game of the tournament.

The team’s manager is Ken Charawell and the coaches are Nate Stevens and Bruce Lawson.

11-year-old baseball

Mill Creek upended Lake Stevens 11-4 to claim the district championship game last week at Freedom Field.

Mill Creek won its first two games at the state tournament in Vancouver.

The manager is Jon Varriano and the coaches are Dave Walker and Tom Eidsmoe.

11-12 baseball

Mill Creek defeated Pacific 7-2 to capture the district title last week at Alderwood.

Mill Creek split its first two games at the state tournament in Issaquah.

The team’s manager is Jeff Wishko and the coaches are Thad Brown and Mike Haugen.

Juniors baseball

Mill Creek lost its first two games at the state tournament in West Seattle. Mill Creek lost 8-6 to Glennwood and then 6-5 to Gig Harbor.

9-10 softball

Mill Creek won the district championship, defeating Stilly Valley 15-5 in the title contest last week at South Snohomish.

Mill Creek advanced to the state tournament in Issaquah, where it defeated Woodinville 13-4 and then beat Kirkland National 4-3.

The manager is Kori Robison and the coaches are Luther Weathersby and Matt Bueser.

11-12 softball

Mill Creek took second place at the district tournament.

Mill Creek defeated North Mukilteo 3-2 and then lost 12-3 to Marysville to end its season.

The manager was Gil Ayala and the coaches were Pat Covello and John Jackman.
