The 2005 Mill Creek Jazz Festival unveils Saturday, Nov. 12 for a day of public performances at the Jackson High School Performing Arts Complex in Mill Creek.
Showcasing performances and the talents of 20 middle school, junior high, and high school jazz ensembles from throughout the Puget Sound region, the festival is a non-competitive event focused on education. The event invites leading northwest jazz clinicians to provide performance feedback and extended clinics to participating ensembles. Enhancing the educational experience, jazz improvisation workshops also occur throughout the day.
The day is highlighted with performances by the award-winning Jackson High School Jazz Ensembles. Other local participating schools are Gateway Middle School, Voyager Middle School, Eisenhauer Middle School and Mariner High School.
In its 5th year, the Mill Creek Jazz Festival is presented by the student volunteers of the Jackson Instrumental Music Department and sponsored by the Jackson Bands &Arts Boosters.
