The Mountlake Terrace City Council recognized two Eagle Scouts last month for completing service projects required in order to earn the Eagle Scout rank.

“These Scouts put in many hours and a lot of hard work on their projects that benefit the city and its residents,” Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch said in a press release.

Courtmanch coordinates projects with prospective Eagle Scouts.

Eagle Scout Matthew Funk refurbished the gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park, 23400 58th Ave. W. Funk replaced the roof after stripping off the old shake roof. He also rebuilt all the benches and railings before painting the entire structure.

Eagle Scout David Klingman cleared, cleaned and leveled the existing trail at Veterans Memorial Park. The trail connects from the park to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center. Klingman placed borders along 400 feet of trail, added gravel and refurbished the existing pedestrian bridge.
