MLTHS presents ‘Once Upon A Mattress’

Mountlake Terrace High School presents the musical comedy “Once Upon A Mattress” 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 and Dec. 13 in the school’s theater at 21801 44th Ave. W in Mountlake Terrace.

“Once Upon a Mattress” is a popular adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea”. In a medieval kingdom, overbearing Queen Aggravain tries to keep her son Prince Dauntless single by testing potential brides-to-be.

Tickets are $7.50 at the door the night of the performance and at Rock-it Music next to QFC on 44th Avenue West during the week.

Royal Attire Night is Dec. 11 – tickets are discounted 50 cents for those who wear their royal costume. Hats must be removed during the performance.

LHS students thank workers at new school

Lynnwood High School students Kaleigh Ansdell, Jessika Barlow, Jeremy Ingalls, Heidi Page, and Cooper Robertson joined principal Dave Golden in thanking the construction crew and architectural team for their work on the construction site of the new Lynnwood High School Nov. 26.

They presented the crew at the site with a thank you banner that is now displayed above the entrance to the school on North Road.

The project is on schedule to be completed this summer, with school beginning next fall at the new location.

EdCC honors alumni at reception

The Edmonds Community College Foundation honored the achievements of three college alumni at a reception Dec. 4.

The winners of the foundation’s 2008 Distinguished Alumni Awards are Autumn Martin, head chocolatier at Seattle’s Theo Chocolate; Ismail Mohammad, a small business owner and student and in the master’s in public administration program at the University of Washington; and Ron Woolery, a press operator who volunteers at the Washington State Reformatory and serves on the college’s vocational advisory-board.

Since the award was established in 1991, the college foundation has honored 42 people for academic success, professional achievement and community service. They include artists, attorneys, fire chiefs, musicians, educators, social workers, business owners and engineers.
