The Swamp Creek &Western Railroad Association will hold its 21st annual Rollin’ Rails family event from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Edgewood Baptist Church, 20406 76th Ave. W., Edmonds.
Because this is the non-profit, model-railroad organization’s only fundraiser of the year, there is a $4 entrance fee for adults. Children 12 and under get in free.
Rollin’ Rails introduces visitors to the world of trains through hands-on exhibits and scale modular layouts by local hobbyists. Visitors will be encouraged to actually run some of the trains and there will be Lego trains for children to play with and build.
The Swamp Creek &Western Railroad Association maintains a fixed exhibit in the baggage room of the Edmonds Amtrak Station. It will be open during Rollin’ Rails. Railroad hobbyists work there year-round to preserve and demonstrate real model trains built to look and operate like the real thing.
Entrance to the permanent exhibit, located at 210 Railroad Ave. in Edmonds, is free but donations are appreciated. For more information, contact Bruce Harris at 425-483-3322.
