Here is more information about the 18 applicants for the vacancy on the Edmonds City Council.

•Steve Bernheim, city councilman, 2008-2011

•Lori A. Chrisman, member of two regional church boards

•Harry Gatjens, member of the City Technology Advisory Committee

•Richard David Gurtiza, member of the City 2012 Budget Committee and a Democratic precinct committee officer

•Randy Hayden, member of the Snohomish County Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board

•Tad Halke, unsuccessful Council candidate in 2012

•Roger Hertrich, city councilman, 1990-93

•Dan Hinrichs, an engineer

•Kristiana Johnson, a city Planning Board member

•Michael Mearns, operator of an urban farm

•William H. Patton, an attorney, now representing the city of Bainbridge

•Alvin Rutledge, past Council candidate

•Steve Shelton, president, Edmonds Center for the Arts

•Natalie Shippen, city councilwoman, 1972-75

•Glenn Steinberg, who says he wants to protect homeowner interests

•Darlene Stern, chamber of commerce board member and unsuccessful 2012 council candidate

•Dick Van Hollebeke, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Edmonds Community College and former councilman

•Ron Wambolt, councilman, 2006-09

Rutledge lost in 2011 to now-Councilwoman Frank Yamamoto; Stern lost to Councilwoman Lora Petso in 2011; and Halke lost to Councilwoman Diane Buckshnis and Bob Wilcox in the 2011 primary.

The council plans to interview applicants at a May 22 meeting.

The vacancy was created by the resignation of Councilman Michael Plunkett, effective June 4.

Council President Strom Peterson says that the council plans to make the appointment June 5.
