The former site of the Columbia Athletic Club in downtown Mill Creek may become medical offices.

The club still owns the building, but is looking to lease it, according to Ryan Olson of Wallace Properties in Bellevue. The Mill Creek location closed Jan. 1 and was effectively merged with a club on 128th Street SW. across from McCollum Park, a company spokesperson said.

The 26,000-square-foot building, located at 15906 Mill Creek Boulevard, is in an area zoned for business parks, and several medical offices are already located in the vicinity.

“It’s a growing area with a lot of young families,” Olson said. “The current doctors have more business than they have time for. It’s a very attractive area for medical professionals.”

Plans for the facility include subdividing it to house numerous clients, some as small as 2,500 square feet. In addition, the building’s exterior will be remodeled with windows on all four sides. As a health club, only two sides of the building have windows.

Negotiations to bring in clients to the building are ongoing, Olson said.
