A cancer survivor from Malaysia is painting a mural in Edmonds, thanks to the actions of Edmonds-based The Max Foundation, and Aegis of Edmonds, an assisted living and memory care community in the city.

Wen Huei Fan, a leukemia survivor and artist from Malaysia, is coming to Edmonds to paint a mural inside Aegis of Edmonds. He arrived Tuesday, Oct. 21, and will unveil the mural at a reception from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24.

Fan is a patient with The Max Foundation, a non-profit that provides care and support for leukemia patients worldwide.

The mural will fill a wall in Aegis of Edmonds’ buiilding.

The mural will represent a significant connection between the artist’s journey with leukemia and the journey of many of those living with dementia, according to a statement from Aegis of Edmonds.

The public is welcome to attend the mural unveiling. It will be held at Aegis at 21500 72nd Ave. W., Edmonds.
