The Edmonds Arts Commission presents an exhibit featuring block prints by Aaron Murray through April 30.

In the early 1990’s Murray studied advanced ceramics at the University of North Texas while earning a degree in English language composition. He made figurative ceramic statues and large architectural structures out of clay. Since 1999 Murray has been making art in many different mediums. He has sculpted numerous figures in bronze, stone, and clay; made dozens of found object compositions; paintings; block prints; silkscreens and etchings. He has composed over 50 books with images of his work.

Murray was awarded the 2004 PONCHO artist in residency at Pratt Fine Arts Center. He was also selected to sell his ceramic sculptures at Pike Place Market. He feels that art should be for everyone, within the expenses of the average consumer. He is also a strong believer in the power of art for education, healing, and social interaction. He takes an active role in the arts community by representing himself and seeking new opportunities to share his work with others. He makes his art and resides in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood with his wife and several pets.

This exhibit in the Edmonds Public Library, 650 Main Street, may be viewed during library hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information call 425-771-0228.
