The Mill Creek Community Association will host a meeting for residents of the Cypress neighborhood next week to address concerns about street parking.

The problem has been an ongoing one for approximately five years, said Mary Ann Baggenstos, executive administrator for the community association.

Cypress residents have had problems with overflow parking from the Parkwood Apartments, which is across 153rd Street SE from Cypress. Vehicles from Parkwood have been parking on Cypress streets, which has led to noise complaints and some vandalism problems. In addition, the narrow neighborhood streets have become tougher to navigate because of the overflow parking.

“A lot of times (the parked cars) causes confusion,” Baggenstos said.

Mill Creek police chief Bob Crannell has been working with the homeowner’s association on the solution that will be presented at next week’s meeting, Baggenstos said.

Representatives of Mill Creek’s public works and police departments will attend to answer residents’ questions and talk about possibly banning overnight on-street parking on 11th Drive SE and 12th Drive SE, which are both cul-de-sacs.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20 at the community association offices, 15714 Country Club Drive.
