Some vibrant new faces on the board of FACE (Fine Arts Center of Edmonds) are infusing the organization with renewed commitment to the creation of an Artists-in-Action facility in Edmonds.
New board members include Jack Loos, Ron Clyborne, David Varnau, Maria Montalvo and Manya Schilperoort. All five have been regularly involved with the growth and development of the arts in downtown Edmonds. Their goal now is to make something tangible happen with FACE by the end of this year. In addition, several new volunteers are offering a significant number of hours to the organization. They are Jeff Stilwell, Michelle Young and Mark Salerno.
FACE will be constructed on the waterfront at the Port of Edmonds. It will allow artists from the region to perform their work in an open setting. Visitors and students are invited to observe the artists while enjoying the setting along Puget Sound. A variety of art media will be represented including painting, sculpture, metal, glass, ceramics and mixed media.
One of FACE’s first projects this year is a unique art show tentatively set around Mother’s Day. Contributing artists will be mothers and their children will contribute their interpretations of the art. There may be artists-in-action at this special event as well.
