New Mountlake Terrace City Councilman Bryan Wahl says that he plans to run next year for the last two years of the term to which he was appointed Tuesday, Aug. 14.
The other six members of the council voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Planning Commissioner Wahl to fill the council vacancy created by the resignation of Michele Robles in late June.
Wahl told the council that he planned to run in 2013 for the last two years of the four-year term that Robles won in 2011.
The appointment is good through certification of the 2013 election.
Wahl has served on the Planning Commission for the past 14 years and has been vice chairman since 2004.
Wahl is a partner for Government Affairs Strategies LLC, a company that develops public policy strategies.
He said Friday that much of his government-relations work is outside the area, but that if his company ever got involved with an issue related to Mountlake Terrace, he would recuse himself.
