LYNNWOOD — A new owner purchased Lynnwood Lanes and Roll-A-Way, 6210 200th Street SW, on Friday, April 14, and announced plans to renovate the 50-year-old bowling alley and skate ring.
Jim Potter and Scott Shapiro, who bought the facility, said they intend to change its name to Lynnwood Bowl &Skate and start extensive renovations. In particular, they intend to resurface the bowling lanes and skating rink, refurbish the bowling computer system and improve the restaurant, bar, restrooms and parking lot.
“I enjoyed spending time here as a kid, and we plan to keep this as part of the fabric of this community,” said Potter.
The business will temporarily close for a few weeks in August as a result. They intend to reopen the business for the 2006-2007 fall bowling leagues as well as school functions and private parties, Shapiro said.
A grand reopening celebration will likely happen in September.
The 2.5-acre lot is worth $2.29 million, according to the Snohomish County Assessor’s Office. The 24,770-square-foot bowling alley was built in 1956 and the skate rink was built in 1958.
Perfect Game Enterprises, which Potter and Shapiro formed to operate the facility, has been managing the business since January.
Potter is the chairman of Kauri Investments, Ltd., and president of the Master Builders of King and Snohomish Counties. Founded in 1987, Kauri has developed or substantially rehabilitated almost 2,000 housing units. The company’s recent projects include Luminaire Condominiums in Lake City, renovation of a 300,000-square-foot warehouse building in Seattle and an $11 million, 21-unit townhouse building in Redmond.
Shapiro is the founder and managing director of Eagle Rock Ventures, a real estate investment and development firm. Founded in 2000, the company recently completed a 14-unit condominium conversion called the Sage in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood and the Cha Cha Lounge, a bar in Los Angeles.
