There’s a new transportation engineer in town, a job that has been vacant since the March departure of traffic engineer Don Sims.
Bertrand Hauss is coming from the Los Angeles County Public Works Department to begin work May 29 in Edmonds.
The job title was changed from traffic engineer to transportation engineer to better reflect the range of projects and issues assigned the position, according to city engineer Dave Gebert. The salary range is $68,500-$85,650.
In Los Angeles County, Hauss was involved with traffic signal issues, repaving projects and traffic-volume studies, Gebert said. Hauss is a licensed professional engineer who earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in transportation from Georgia Institute of Technology.
